Havash Havash (slowly, slowly). A life of high quality is one where you have time. Where you have simple, natural, and good ingredients to fill your body and soul with. Albanians are a seriously relaxed people. We have learned from them about a slow, no rush lifestyle with an unhurried rhythm more about presence than productivity. Meeting and sitting over a small kafe Turk is a necessary ritual performed several times daily. Enjoying homemade, local products isn’t a trend or a luxury; it’s simply the way things are done. Goat cheese, yogurt, and milk made by hand. Fruit gathered directly from trees scattered throughout the village, ripening naturally with the seasons — grapes, pomegranates, figs, lemons, and oranges. And most essential of all, olive oil: golden, fragrant, and ever-present, poured generously without measure or concern. Here, we indulge without guilt in the sun and wine by the sea, without worrying that we need to be doing something productive. We indulge in the village life, far away from the city and mass manufacturing troubles. We hear goats walking nearby with the shepherds. We hear the waves crashing on the coast and the sea breeze in the air. Village life offers a quiet richness rooted in tradition and in the land. Life feels unforced, whole, and grounded.
In the 2025 olive harvest, we learned a lot. We saw how many widows and elderly people need help harvesting their olive trees. Many people have trees whose fruit goes unharvested. We don’t want to see olives go unused. We would like to revitalize the olive oil economy in Vuno and other villages along the riviera. Right now, olives are harvested for personal family use, but are not used as a resource for making money. In the future, we would like to buy olives directly from the villagers themselves. We hope to show people that there is plenty of work available and that olives can be a viable financial possibility.
